Personify my work and she will vocally discus her period, she will not conceal her emotions, her bold post-cry nose as proud as her boisterous laugh. She adorns her eyes with liner and shamelessly exhibits her camel toe sweatpants. She fantasizes about answering Lucy Lippard’s phone calls.

Unapologetically female in imagery and process, my work dances withamateur spirit. Diligence, patience, manual dexterity, and other associations with ‘feminine virtue’ combine bold expressive and impulsive ambition. I create large-scale, highly detailed, multimedia drawings on flocking paper; I also paint loose and energetic still lives. I utilize these drawings and paintings as backgrounds for stop-motion animations, synchronizing my own digital recordings with paper and wire puppets

Historically, female mysticism provided spiritual and cultural power. Today, as the cult of fantastic female youth evolves, my work lives in the realm of self-portrait avatars.  Personal association charms the viewer with the desperation of a reality star. This emotional interjection, distorts, the subject/object representation of femininity. I am aware that Your Gaze Hits the Side of my Face.  I am aware of the value placed on my youth. I am compelled to open the diary setting on my Myspace profile to public view.

Using the succinct language of fairytale, I provide a space for observation, and imagination, offering delight as a narcotic. Seagulls fly through a garden of double helixes; a giant praying mantis leaps into swan-filled bubbles. Emotions soar but there is no linear narrative. I intend my drawings and animations to be viewed as material manifestations of a virtual landscape. The viewer navigates the work like an Internet explorer, one seductive detail points to another.
